Our latest museum fashion interactive lights up Salem!
Making its North American debut, Andrew Gn: Fashioning the World illuminates the designer’s life and legacy, showcasing nearly 100 stunning works, including clothing, accessories, original illustrations and digital media at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, MA.
Andrew Gn, named a “pioneer among foreign-born, Paris-based designers” by Vogue, is one of Singapore’s most prolific creative forces. Over the course of 25 years, he has produced more than 80 collections and 10,000 elegant ensembles.
Since founding his Paris fashion house in 1995, Gn has become synonymous with opulence, intricate embellishment and luxurious craftsmanship. A visionary dressmaker and color virtuoso, he merges artistic traditions, bold patterns and cultural influences to create more than just clothing: his work celebrates cross-cultural exchange and technical innovation.
Our interactive installation lets guests experience the world through Andrew's eyes- starting with the excitement of creating fashion designs that draw inspiration from his collection of historic Asian art!

The Andrew Gn interactive at Peabody Essex Museum was inspired by our earlier project, Design A Dress which was such a HUGE hit at the Chicago History Museum's "Making Mainbocher" exhibit in 2017, that there was a line EVERY DAY for over a year to enjoy this open-ended interactive. Check out some pics and videos of that below.
It also won a MUSE award for interactive installation that year from the American Alliance of Museums!
Fashionistas loved trying their hand at fashion design by mixing and matching a dozen period-specific fabrics- without having to learn how to sew! Teens enjoyed seeing who could out-do each other. Even dads got into it!
We made designing easy with over 25,000 possible combinations of fabrics, accents, necklines, colors, pattern sizes, and skirt lengths guaranteed to make a beautiful design that would make anyone proud.
